Once you've created a piece of jewellery from Sarah Packington's little book, no-one will ever believe you made it in your own kitchen. Along with Soap Making, the techniques described in this book are the closest thing we've seen to 'alchemy'. By mixing easily obtainable chemicals and applying the right amount of heat, you can make these sparkling jewel-like beads that look fabulous as necklaces or earings.
Acrylic jewellery making has been growing in popularity since the 1960’s. It probably falls under the 'kitsch, and therefore really trendy' bracket. There’s been a growing number of jewellery designers who are interested in exploring the material’s potential for more ‘precious’ pieces. In this book, Sarah explains a method of ‘resist’ dyeing to produce a strikingly modern and totally unique jewellery set (earrings, bracelet and necklace).
